[THE LION, THE LAMB, AND THE SEVEN SEALS, CONT.]

[the fourth seal]

Look with me now, says the Lord, at the opening of the fourth seal. John was again told to 'Come and see' and another portion of the earth was symbolically viewed. This time he beheld 'a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given to them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth.' (Rev. 6:7-8). During the same general time period which saw the going forth of the forces described in the first three seals, there arose another force which was to vitally affect another portion of the world. The Imperialistic war lords of Japan set out on an expansionist course which led to the unprovoked conquest of China. This is the meaning of the statement that 'power was given to them over the fourth part of the earth.' (Rev. 6:8). That 'fourth part' was the people of China. The 'Death' rider continued his advances until in his vaunted success he struck at Pearl Harbor and engaged forces which led to his downfall. But, notice, says the Lord, that the 'Death' rider was followed by another called 'Hell' (or the Unseen), and it is said that power was given to them over the fourth part of the earth. In other words, after China had been subjugated and weakened by the Japanese, the powers of 'Hell’ took over following the Japanese exit. This was none other than the force of Communism. And the pale horse continues as China suffers under the scourge of the demonic powers of the Unseen realm through Communist tyranny.
