Dear
Friends in the Lord Jesus,
Though
I have cut back on letter writing due to the tension it creates
and also the lack of response from my readership, revelation
arises on occasion that just begs to be heard. I don't jump to
respond to this "begging" like I used to, but instead I sit and
wait. But then sometimes, someone else in conversation will ask
me to write something down. Then it becomes a virtual mandate
for me to write.
I
have just recently returned from an illuminating trip to the
South. Personally, I no longer care to go to the South anymore.
The revelation I received on this trip only confirmed my disdain
for everything going on down there. Yet the revelation is quite
compelling. Moreover, I had some extremely fruitful discussions
with many whom I saw on the trip.
Together,
these conversations gave birth to the revelations that have
come forth over this trip. From my protected and isolated
position here in New England--worlds away from all of you and
the atmospheres I encountered down South-- I feel free again to start
calling things for what they really
are. ...
...
In the Bible, Jesus didn't hesitate to call people "foxes" or
"vipers." He even called some of His own followers fools (Lk
24:25). The word that perpetually arises in my spirit is
"idiots." Perpetually, my spirit records what it can only label
as spiritual "idiocy" in people. I don't hate people. I love
people. But many of them are idiots (I include myself , in that
category from time to time. My spirit judges me as much as
anyone.)
So
if in the course of this letter I say something that implies you
or someone else is acting in accord with idiocy, understand that
my judgment is not personal. (Jn. 8:15-16), I do not hold it
personally against anyone. But it is still truth, and as such it
needs to be voiced, for only thereby may someone be
saved....
Now
that you get the immediate flavor of my impressions from my trip
South, I turn to share at random the various revelations that
came to me in the course of it. Hopefully, they will all tie
together somehow to make some sense for you. The only prerequisite you need
to be able to appreciate them is a love for
truth.
I.
The Dying American Wineskin, & Preparation of the First
Kingdom Generation
I
feel the homeschooling movement is very significant, I believe
God is using it to shelter and prepare His next generation as
the first generation that will serve with Christ in His
earth-based Kingdom. We're talking manifest Kingdom
here.
Three
hundred seventy years ago, when things reached their fullness of
corruption in Europe, God called out a little group of people to
leave Europe and come to the shores of the New World to start
over. They had tried to reform the corruption and turn back the
tide. But after a while, they wisely saw it was to no avail. So
rather than risk any further corruption of themselves, they
chose the costly alternative of crossing the ocean to an unknown
world.
Thus
began one of the most dynamic experiments in church and nation
building of all time. Personally, I believe the New World was
precisely prepared for this very purpose. Once Europe had
outlived itself as a wineskin for the development of the Church,
yet the Church was not ready for the Lord's Return, the New
World was unveiled to the eyes of man to become the next earthly
wineskin for the world center of Church development over the
next 400 years.
The
thing about all "wineskins" though is that they pass away. A
wineskin is "of the earth". It is of "this world". Anything of
"this world" will pass away though it be ordained for a time to
"house" the hidden work of God in the earth. This is true of a
human body. It is also true of a collection of human bodies--
whether a "church" or a "nation." The challenge for us lies in
recognizing both the "good" of a wineskin while also recognizing
its ultimate subjection to corruption and death.
For
instance, though we recognize our bodies will one day die, we
don't hate them, damage them, or curse them. We feed and clothe
them, taking care of them until their time to pass comes.
Oppositely, though we recognize the good usefulness of our
bodies to God's purpose, we don't worship them, fawn over them,
or deny that they are corrupt and will soon be put off. We
rather look forward
to putting them off.
What
we recognize (or should recognize)
about our bodies applies likewise to that collective body called
"America." Unfortunately, the founders failed to recognize
America was at best only another corruptible wineskin in the
making. Today, Christian American "idiots" by the hundreds of
thousands still fail to recognize this.
Though
they take the name of
their "Pilgrim" forefathers, they do not have the wisdom to see
about America what their forefathers had the wisdom to see about
their native Europe. Namely, "The Wineskin is now passing." As
Europe died, so too now America is dying. The wineskin of this
earth is now openly decaying. A new wineskin is
being prepared, and a new breed of true
pilgrim is being raised out of the old
wineskin.
But
this time is different. Unlike the European pilgrims, American
pilgrims are not being prepared for another uninhabited earthly
place to start over. There are no more lands to discover and
move out to. The whole world is saturated under the control and
permeation of human flesh.
What
does this mean? It means that the time of wineskins itself as
we know them is over, and something
truly permanent and abiding is at the door for the true
pilgrims. The true imperishable Kingdom of God is at
hand, ready to appear in the earth, governed by pilgrims who
have made the transition to new incorruptible
bodies.
Of
course, there will also still be people on
the earth with earthly bodies too. Not everybody will be ready
to put on new bodies and there will be many who are preserved
through the coming world tribulation to enter the New Kingdom as
earthlings.
Who
are these? Behold, people! Your children! God
is now preparing the next generation of kingdom servants in the
form of your children. Many of these children will survive the
coming holocaust, but they will not have matured to the place of
receiving deathless bodies by the time Jesus returns. They will
go on to be earth-based leaders of the world in the dawning
Kingdom Age at hand.
And
how is He preparing them for this? He's taking them out of the
schools that prepare them according to the dying American
wineskin and is bringing them up instead in the homes of godly
pilgrims who can receive the revelation of the dying wineskin.
This, people, is what the homeschool movement is all about.
Granted,
many homeschoolers are still blinded by the dying wineskin. A
lot of those who emphasize patriotism think they're raising
their kids to be able to one day turn America around. But I'm
not worried about this. You see, the fact that these people have
enough sense to take their kids out of the institutional schools
tells me that, with a little re-focusing, they have what it will
take to receive the revelation that America is now history as
far as God is concerned and that God is using them to bring up
their kids for an entirely different and better kingdom at hand.
Anybody
with kids who reads this needs to meditate on this revelation
til you get it straight why God has given you kids and why He
has led you into home schooling. Also, if anybody reading this
is one of those Christian American "idiots" I referred to, and
you still have your heart set on preserving a dying wineskin,
you need to wake up and learn what you were born for. If God had
wanted to allow you
to be involved during the building of the American wineskin, He
would have had you born 200 or 300 years ago, not 40 or 50 years
ago.
(Notice?
I said "allow." God does not directly call us to pursue the
building of earthly kingdoms. We are called only to the direct
building of His spiritual Kingdom, a call which allows us to be involved
with building human society as an incidental, but not as a
direct devotion in competition with His coming Kingdom.) Please

II.
The "Defensive Mentality"
What
is one way you can tell whether you are building God's Kingdom
or helping preserve an earthly kingdom that is destined to die?
One very sure way of telling is by recognizing what I call the
"defensive mentality." The defensive mentality is that mentality
whereby Christians are primarily motivated to action by their response to an evil agenda
or initiative. Instead of setting the agenda
for the world by responding to the inner revelation of God,
people with defensive mentality are always rising up in action
against an agenda initiated by evil. The prime example of this
on the national level is the abortion issue.
Throughout
my 20 years of close involvement with Christian American
activism, the one trait that I have seen behind all of it is
that Christian activism is galvanized by a soulish response to evil
initiative. A sin arises. Christians rise up to fend it off.
Another sin arises. Christians rise up to beat it off--holding
rallies, boycotting products, writing letters to officials,
staging protests, etc., etc. And all the while, Christians think
they are building God's kingdom because the cause they defend is
righteous.
Nothing
could be further from the truth. The truth is that whoever sets the agenda
builds the kingdom. As long as Christians are motivated
by their response to evil, they're not building anything! It's
the devil who is building.
Look,
people. I've watched this thing 20 years. I used to be in the
fight "against communism," "against one-world government,"
"against evil in public schools." But it only took me a few
years to learn that I was accomplishing nothing permanent for
God! At best, I was only retarding the inevitable.
(I
also shortly came to see as well that such activism had nothing
in common with the ministry of Jesus. He responded purely to the
inner positive revelation of His Father. He never responded once
to an evil agenda through advocating social changes.)
So
look around you! After years and years of Christian activism,
what have Christians accomplished? America is more evil than it
ever was. You have built nothing for God. You
have merely responded to the devil's agenda! Does the devil care
whether you resist him or not? No. As long as he
sets the agenda for what you respond to, he
doesn't care what you do about it. If you resist, it just takes
him a little longer, that's all.
But
he would rather have you resist him than set God's agenda.
And if he can fool you into thinking that by responding
defensively against his agenda you are
building God's Kingdom, all the better. He welcomes your puny
prayers and opposition. The only Christian who is a threat to
satan is a Christian who is locked into awareness of
Jesus Christ and the inner revelation of Jesus for his
life. It is the Christian who sets the agenda
offensively by responding to (and only to) inner
revelation that satan fears.
So
look around you now. I challenge you to show me an open ministry
that is actually setting the agenda for America. No. You won't
find it. You see, two things always go together: preservation of dying
wineskin and defensive mentality.
They go together.
Conversely,
these two things go together; bringing in the coming
kingdom and offensive mentality.
Christians who set
the agenda are looking for the next kingdom. Nobody who sets the
agenda is trying to preserve America.
Why?
Because America is past. But the revelation that sets God's
agenda is for tomorrow.
You can't set the spiritual agenda and preserve a dying
wineskin at the same time. You can't respond to the devil's
agenda of evil and build a coming kingdom at the same time.
Yet
this is the idiocy of Christian activism in America. Whether it
is Pat Robertson fighting political evil, James Dobson fighting
social evil, or Kenneth Copeland fighting "spiritual" evil, it's
all the same. It is defensive mentality. This therefore is a
sure test of which kingdom you build. To what do you respond? Is
it the devil's agenda from without, or is it God's revelation
through Jesus Christ from within?
III.
Putting the Anointing In Perspective
This
next is especially for Steve in Greenville, SC who asked me to
write out this analogy. One of the deceptions charismatic
churches are vulnerable to is inordinate esteem of the anointing
of God, as if the anointing is a cure-all with self-sustaining
merit of its own, or as if it is an indication of God's approval
of those who partake of it.
This
too is idiocy. In truth, the anointing is simply one part of
God's arsenal for equipping believers. To understand it in
perspective with its limitations, we must see the total
analogy given in scripture.
In
scripture, salvation and spiritual growth are pictured by the
total process of raising crops. Each aspect of the farming
process corresponds to an aspect of spiritual growth. The basic
aspects and their spiritual counterparts are listed
below:

The
first thing we note is that no one single element can produce
fruit. All of these
elements have to be present in proper balance for perfect fruit
to come forth. The problem in the Church however is that groups
major on certain elements to the exclusion of others. They see
value in one element, then neglect or even reject others.
Some
groups major on the Word of God (the seed), but give no concern
for the condition of the heart (the ground), or for the
anointing of the Spirit (the rainfall). Others emphasize
tribulation and the work of the cross (the sun), but ignore or
even deny the need for anointing of the Spirit (the rainfall).
Finally,
you have groups like the one in question that glorify the
anointing, but minimize the rest, giving little thought for the
condition of the heart or the purification process through
suffering and the work of the cross.
On
top of this, the groups criticize each other over their
deficiencies. Charismatic groups criticize fundamentalist
groups. Those who advocate the need of rainfall point to the dry
ground of fundamentalists who major on seed only. Meanwhile
fundamentalists point at rainfall advocates because of the
extensive thorns their rainfall produces!
Neither
group believes in hoeing or digging through a life of self
denial. So both groups have hard ground. One is dry. The other
wet, and the rain just runs off of it. Of course, you also have
"deeper life" groups that emphasize the hoeing and digging of
suffering. But they have little word-seed of vision to grow on,
and what seed they have is denied rainfall because they
deny the gifts and the anointings.
Given
this overview, let's put the anointing in perspective. The
anointing is vital. It is the rainfall of the Holy Spirit
promised to fall on the ground to bring forth fruit. But if we
look closely, we see more. We see that
this rain falls on the just and the unjust (Mt
5:45). And we see that this rain doesn't bring up only fruit
from the ground, but whatever is in the
ground, including thorns
and briers (Heb 6:7-8).
What
does all this mean? It means that, as vital as rainfall is, the
presence of rainfall alone does nothing to guarantee what comes
out of the ground or what kind of ground it falls upon (which
things are all that finally count). The rain falls on the just
and the unjust. Yes--
you read correctly. The Holy Spirit falls on unbelievers!
Unbelievers
prophesy. They do miracles. All by the Spirit. Read about them
in Mt 7:21-23. In Hebrews 6, we see where the Spirit causes the
thorns and briers to sprout! Jesus calls these the cares of the
world. Is it any wonder that in charismatic circles, there are
so many people so evidently dominated by the cares of this life?
(Not that fundamentalists don't have thorns in their dry
ground. They have just as many. But without the rain to sprout
them as easily, they hide their sins more
easily!)
So
here is what you have. In the South, you have people and
churches all over the place who are drunk on the anointing, yet
their ranks are riddled with flakes and weirdos whom they do
nothing about because they think as long as they've got
rainfall, it doesn't matter what kind of ground you have or what
comes out of it! To them, the anointing is the end-all of
everything.
This
kind of "rain forest" atmosphere dominates the South and
Southwest. It explains why that entire region is nothing but a
spiritual jungle in
which snakes, scorpions, apes and baboons all fare so well.
Indeed, the whole South has been given over to this delusion and
idiocy. You couldn't pay me to live there now. I much prefer the
secular "desert" of New England with its occasional oasis of
relief, where people are honest enough to hate God and admit
it.
IV.
The Great Delusion, Hatred of Truth, and Confusion of Divine
Identity
We
just mentioned the word delusion. "Delusion" is
what Paul forecast would fall on man in the last days (II Th.
2:10-12). He says the reason for the delusion is that people do
not love the truth. Elaborating on a discussion with Vern ____,
I want to pinpoint the nature of this delusion with its
cause.
Amos
says that in the last days, there is to be a "famine for hearing the words
of the Lord" (Am 8:11). Please note. He did not say a "famine of the word of
God" but a "famine
for hearing the words of God." That is precisely what
you have today in America.
There
is no famine of the word itself. There has never been more word
of God expressed in all history than there is today. The word of
God abounds as never before. But yet there is a famine for hearing the word.
In
other words, people are hearing the words of God, but the words
do not enter them to take root or bring nourishment. Instead,
the words pass right through them. It is like a man whose
digestive system has failed such that, though he eats and eats,
the food just remains undigested, decomposes inside his bowels,
then passes out of him as good as if he hadn't eaten! This is
the famine God spoke of concerning the last days, and we are
there now. (Compare also with Lk 8:18.)
But
how is this possible? How is it possible for a man to eat and
yet be malnourished? How is it possible for people to eat up
God's words and yet perish?
Answer:
when people encounter an area of Truth which they are unwilling
to deal with, they often turn to cover it by embracing other truth they are already
willing to accept. Truth itself then becomes a cover for
self-deception.
When
this happens, the truth people cloak themselves with cannot nourish them.
It can only pass through them undigested while they resist
secretly this other truth. The most deceptive cover for hatred
of truth is truth itself.
This
is the nature of the end-time delusion Paul prophesied would
come.
This is the delusion at the core of all religion— in particular,
American religion today. See how America abounds with access to
revelation and understanding of the word of God. Yet this
revelation profits nothing but to harden people in their blind
insensitivity to genuine moral response and insight. For all
their seeing, they see nothing-- the curse of the Pharisees (Jn
9:40-41).
With
each Christian broadcast, with each sermon, with each magazine
that comes out, the heart of American Christianity grows harder
by the hour. Why? Because the truth most people champion is
truth they use to cloak their secret flight from other
superpersonal Truth they are unwilling to hear from
God.
What
Truth is it people are unwilling to hear? This varies from man
to man. God deals with people individually. But overall, one
particular area of truth I find Christians generally unwilling
to hear is the truth that man is basically evil, and that God
(not man) is sovereign. Most American Christianity today is
based on an unspoken premise of humanism which denies
the need of repentance, fails to confront sin directly in
others, turns a blind eye to recognized evil in others and
imputes godly motives to such hearts.
Instead
a "quasi-Christian humanism" prevails, one that values safe,
non-threatening relationship above inwardly-perceived truth. (We
are not speaking here of "judgmental" truth, but of
"revelational" truth. Judgmental truth with its divisions is an
entirely different thing altogether.)
Personally,
I have done battle with such humanism this year at school, and I
encountered it again through reports I heard in South Carolina.
I hate to say this, but almost all public ministry you hear over
public airwaves is delusion-ministry.
"But is it not truth?"
Of
course it's truth! But it is truth covering self-deceived
consciences of people who have something to hide from. It is
truth therefore that does not nourish, nor therefore has any
lasting redeeming impact on US society. Rather, it contributes
to the rapid decay.
The
ultimate symptom of this delusion is the confusion of Divine
Identity. What is this? Confusion of divine identity is the
inability to distinguish satan from God because satan is clothed
in the likeness of God (II Cor. 11:14). The end result of a
people who clothe themselves with truth as a means of hiding
from heart-truth is confusion of divine identity, specifically,
the embracing of a Liar as Jesus because he is clothed with the
likeness of Jesus (II Th 2:2-12).
This
will be the final
"anti-christ", the man of sin, the man of delusion. This
confusion of identity is the key to satanic strategy. Satan does
not want to be worshipped as "satan", the one who opposed God.
That would still admit of another god beside himself. No. He
does not want to be worshipped as a "Competitive
Identity." Rather, he wants to be worshipped as God, the only God, through a
confusion of
identity. You must get this straight.
This
is what the conflict of the Old Testament prophets was all
about. In ancient Israel, the name "baal" meant "lord." When
Israel worshipped Baal, it was not as a competitive identity to
Jehovah. Through self-deception, it was confused identity with Jehovah. To Israel,
Baal and Jehovah were the same God. Under the name Baal, they
worshipped Jehovah through images like golden calves, believing they were
worshipping the God of Moses. To them, the prophets were crying
over nothing!
This
is why the prophets could never win and why Baal-worship could
never be rooted out in Israel's history. Had it been a matter of
clear competitive identity
where you could tell the difference between the "evil Baal" and
the "good Jehovah," Baal would have easily been undone. But no.
To Israel, Baal and Jehovah were the same, and the prophets were
madmen trying to make a distinction that didn't
exist.
But
the distinction did exist. But it was in the heart, and it
was this: Jehovah was worshipped in spirit and in truth. Baal
worship however was the worship of Jehovah to
cover secret sin, manifested by worshipping Jehovah through
idols. (See I Ki. 12:26-33). So they called Jehovah "Baal" (Hos.
2:16).
But
what was it? In reality, it was the worship of satan under the
guise of worship of Jehovah. Confusion of divine
identity. People worshipping satan who thought they were
just worshipping Moses' God in a "creative" way. The great delusion -- and the
forerunner of final worship of anti-christ in the
last days. (You see, "anti"-christ is not "anti" in the competetive sense, but
in the confused
sense.)
Go
read Elijah at Carmel again (I Ki. 18). Elijah s task wasn't to
prove that Baal was "bad" and Jehovah "good." His task was to
show there was a difference at all. His
task was to unscramble divine
identity.
And
that is the task today. I hate to be blunt about this, people,
but most American Christianity is nothing but baal worship.
“Don't people worship
Jesus?”
Of
course they do. But they do so through the veil of their secret
idols. They worship the truth as a means to hide from
secret truth. Thus the Jesus they worship is the "anti-"Jesus.
The "Lord" they proclaim is "Baal" (which means "lord.")
American Christianity is nothing but one total confusion of
divine identity.
This
is the delusion Paul spoke of to come. Its manifestation will be
crowned when the "in person" anti-Jesus actually appears,
showing himself to be -- not satan -- but God, seated in the
temple of world Christendom, centred in American Christendom.
(Because America is the manifest centre of baal-christianity and
confusion of divine identity I contend the personal "antichrist"
will arise from America,)
Not
everyone who cries "Baal,
Baal" will enter the kingdom of God (Mt 7:21). Only those
who do the will of the Father in spirit and in truth. Only those who
respond to the inward revelation of the Father and execute it
through the power of the Spirit. This is the truth and the Word
of God. This living revelation is the foundation of one's
witness and testimony by which he overcomes baal worship. (Rev
12:11).
The
question is, do you have such a testimony? Do you love all
truth? Or do you only love the truth that is useful in hiding
you from truth you need to hear in your deepest conscience? Your
answer to this determines whether you are a worshipper of
Jehovah or a baal worshipper.
God
calls us to love mankind, But your love for mankind must be
based on your love for truth. The moment your love for any man
supersedes your love for truth, at that moment you become a baal
worshipper. At some point in your life, in many points in your
life, you will be forced to make this choice. And in every case,
it is the hardest choice you will ever have to make.
But
my ultimate prayer and desire for every one of you is that at
every such crossroad, you will overcome to choose truth over
man. I pray your love for truth will overshadow, govern,
mediate, test, and be the spring from which flows your love for
any other man. If it is, and remains so, you will never be deceived,
never worship baal,
and never
serve an antichrist. “I
have no greater joy
than to hear that my children walk in truth." (III Jn.
4)
V.
The Coming Super-Revelation of the
Gospel
My
final essay tonight is this: What happens when creation
itself no longer serves as a viable means for conveying the
gospel to mankind because it is so corrupted? (Rom 1)
This
revelation came to me as I watched a rock video at my brother's
in Connecticut. I compared it to the days when I grew up and
found something good in music on TV, in people, and society at
large-- things God used to reach me. But now I look at today's
music--the rock artists, the worthless amoral TV programs, the
vanity of society at large-- so polluted. What is there anymore
to remotely point youth to God? Everyone's surrounded by freaks
and junkies? Where can one find a human hero worth emulating
anywhere anymore?
God
says that creation is given to testify to His glory. But what
happens when that creation becomes irreparably polluted through
idolatry as happens in Romans 1? And what happens when the
ministry itself of the gospel becomes so polluted and permeated
through the flesh that the “Romans Road” prepares seekers to
worship antichrist?
True,
there are isolated communities, families, and individuals that
have striven to keep themselves pure from the pollutions,
pulling back from the society and from association with publicly
acclaimed ministry. But as these expand and the true worshippers
become fewer and fewer, farther and farther in between, headed
for oblivion, what then is left to point to
Him?
People,
I believe that as creation finally dies through human pollution,
and human beings
lose the same tenability for conveying truth that the Law lost
through spiritual pollution, -- I believe that something
new is about to take place never seen before in the earth. It
will be the same as what happened when Jesus first came.
At
that time, Israel with its Law had come to its end as a
wineskin. Israel- the light of God in the earth for conveying
the gospel-- had reached its totality of empty corruption. When
it did, then God produced a super revelation of the
gospel through the incarnation of Jesus Christ---A super
revelation that totally transcended the corrupted body and
light of Israel.
Now,
it is the same! Only instead of Israel and the Law, it is now
the entire Gentile world led by America--yes, mankind
itself--with its scriptures and revelation that has come to its
end as a wineskin. All
creation itself has come to its totally corrupted end of
viability for declaring the gospel and the glory of God to man.
The human vessel is polluted. Creation is dying. The only gospel
reaching the world is the cancerous baal-gospel shackled to
American technology and economy.
People,
as this entire wineskin of earth and humanity winds down, and
there becomes less and less natural avenue for beholding
the glory of God, I believe that God is going to do it
again. I believe we are in store for a super-revelation of the
gospel of God-- one that transcends every avenue of creation
hitherto known to man, one that rivals the unprecedented first
incarnation of Jesus, and one that coincides with His
return.
What
will this super-revelation be? I don't know (really). If I knew,
then it wouldn't be a super revelation. When it comes, no one
will have been able to anticipate it. Yet when it comes, the
world will once again have a viable testimony of the true gospel
in its midst, one that transcends its thoroughly polluted
creation, one that will safely carry mankind into the dawning
new Kingdom Age at hand. (For a glimpse, see Rev 14:6-7. Notice
that it is not man who finally fulfils the Great Commission!)
Because
of this hope, I no more despair over the loss of the beauties of
this life I once knew, nor lament over worthlessness of man as a
vessel of the Gospel. The beauties of the earth I once knew, and
the ideals I once held of man fulfilling the Great Commission,
are gone forever. The earth I once knew will never be again. The
things that once brought me close to God are now quickly fading
from view-- a clean earth, a stable family, a secure society, an
earthly future with promise.
But
in their place, I await with hope that Super Revelation to come,
that revelation that will save not only us, but our children and
youth who know not the beauties and simplicities we once knew,
but who are now born with "crack" and AIDS in their
bloodstreams-- raised amidst the occult influences-- such as
rock videos....
And
now I am through. I have finished my circle….dying wineskin,
defensive mentality, spiritual "raindancing", confusion of
divine identity, death of the earth ... unto a new super
revelation. May the insights I have candidly shared resulting
