OVERCOMING THE VOICE OF CONDEMNATION THROUGH SCRIPTURE

September 2, 2017

The following
brief conversation is a sequel to the last on The Sin Unto Death, highlighting the issue of condemnation that besets many who read scripture. The condemnation may be over any issue of neglect, or sin or even regarding loss of salvation. What remains unrealized is that the scriptures are subject to spiritual occupation by any spirit, not just the Spirit of God who originally authored them. It is critical to understand the difference between the word of God and the Spirit that is actually driving that word with respect to the heart.

Bless you Chris. I hope you are doing well today.

I don't know why I still have somewhat a hard time with assurance. I just hope I haven't tricked myself to believe The Lord hasn't forsaken me. I'm trying to get more understanding.

I guess the scripture in Proverbs, “I will mock you when your fear cometh because you hated knowledge and chose not the fear of the Lord”—this is one of them that makes me think again.

Do you really think God gave the scriptures to men as a way to prove to them that they cannot know Him or be restored to Him? Is that the heart of God you see behind the purpose for scripture?

No my brother. I just know some of those scriptures I've been trying to understand can make you feel there is no hope. The one in Proverbs, “I will mock you when your fear cometh because you hated knowledge and chose not the fear of the Lord hangs over my head.”

So then you need to understand scripture in context of the Father's intent. The way you are reading that proverb is not in harmony with His intent. If you know that is not His intent, then you have to stop reading the scripture that way as if it was His intent (to make you feel there is no hope). Until the heart passes a point of no return in its capacity to repent, the intent of every scripture is to lead to repentance and restoration, without exception. It's that simple. Stop complicating it with your own doubt and start believing in the Father's intent.

You have to remember that words are chariots for spirits. Words do not steer themselves. They are vehicles steered by a spirit. This includes scripture. You have to start discerning which kind of spirit is speaking to you through scripture. The devil quoted scripture to Jesus in the wilderness. It was God's word, but it was commandeered by satan. So Jesus didn't listen to it. He knew the difference.

You need to discern the difference too. Just because you read a scripture doesn't mean God is speaking to you through it. It could be the devil speaking to you through it. God is a Spirit and they that worship Him must worship Him in Spirit. God is always dealing with the Spirit of the thing, not the form. Jesus said, "My sheep hear my voice."

God has already said by intent that He does not give us the spirit of bondage to fear again, but the spirit of love, power and of a sound mind. So if the spirit voice you are hearing through the scripture is inciting you to cowering fear and hopelessness, you have to stop believing that voice and reject that application of scripture to you.  It's not the voice of the Spirit or of the Shepherd who came to seek and to save that which was lost.

If a police car is stolen by a thief, you are not obligated to stop for it no matter how many lights it flashes or sirens it blares. Start discerning the thief of joy driving the policing scriptures you are reading. Measure the effect in your heart of what you are reading. Start respecting the difference between the Father's voice and the devil's.
