God's Purpose Behind All Elections
To this point, I have emphasized that the current election and its attendant turmoil is not about America’s restoration or a man named Trump. It is not about eschatological events, however in view such events may be. We have said that this election is about the magnification of the Lord and His purpose to purify the identity of His people in this land.
And though my take of which candidate God was going to use to do that appears in error, it remains that whichever candidate won, that remains His purpose. The fact that Trump won only means that the Lord believes Trump is the better instrument for obtaining the American church’s purity, despite what the culture prophets say God’s purpose is. Trump has not been elected to “make America great again” as far as God is concerned with it.
But I want to delve into this one layer deeper. We are talking about God’s purpose. Just what is God’s purpose anyway in this theater of nation up-building and down-tearing, and in all this spiritual warfare among principalities and powers? It is here we continue to miss God’s real purpose:
“The Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.”
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation to every one that believes…..”
This is God’s purpose. His purpose is still the saving of souls and of bringing those souls to fullness of salvation to the point of complete readiness for joining to His Son. This is His purpose and the real display of His power.
People, God really does not care about the nations and their structures of government. Why not? How do we know that? It’s because they are all doomed to destruction anyway.
Jesus didn’t give His life to save governments. The verse does not say, “For God so loved the governments of this world that He gave His Only Son…” or “For God so loved the world that He wanted to give them good constitutions and better cultures…”
Why must I say this? I must say this because in all the prophetic hoopla and uproar over the direction and significance of this election, the real purpose of God—the eternal purpose—has been lost, as usual. As has been said by this ministry before, almost no issue is made of the gospel and human need for eternal salvation in any and all of this prophesying (I will give credit to the Mark Taylor prophecy to the degree his stated purpose for Trump’s election included the need for assisting the Harvest.)
But as a whole, modern prophesying is entirely unhinged from ministry to the eternal purpose of God in saving people from sin. This is so much so that revival is now envisioned in terms of cultural restoration, not human salvation. Revival is seen in terms of removing extrinsic evil from manifestation in society. That is not what true revival has ever been about.
This then is the nature of the real sifting of God underneath all this prophetic / eschatological cacophony. We are all so concerned about “who has God chosen to be president?” while in the time it took me to type that question, an innumerable number of people passed from this life into an eternity in hell.
God’s real sifting under the noise is about what is in our hearts for the lost, for the dying, and for fulfilling in those of us who have obtained the grace of eternal life the completeness of our soul’s salvation. Who cares about this? Do you care about it? Do any of the prophets you know care about it? Does anyone preach the gospel anymore? Anywhere?
Paul did not say, “For I am not ashamed of prophesying to nations for it is the power of God unto salvation.” Prophesying to nations saves no one from hell. Yet that is what has happened to the vast prophetic movements as a whole. They see prophesying itself as what truly matters, and the larger the global theater one can prophesy to, the more important in the mind of God.
But God is watching. He is sifting. He is proving what is in our hearts as a prophetic people underneath all the extrinsic prophecy. He is proving our ultimate values. Are they truly His concern? And what do we answer at the judgment when we present that we prophesied over the nations and He asks, “But what did you prophesy to the saving of my lost sheep from their sins and to the purifying of my Bride from her uncleanness in readiness for Me?"
In Revelation 12 we read about the woman and manchild and dragon. I have written on this much before. What or who is the dragon really after? Is the dragon’s primary purpose to inspire the governmental beast?
No, that is not His primary purpose. His primary purpose is to devour the manchild! That is what he is really after. He is after it in the natural through abortion, and he is after it in the spiritual through devouring that which is born of the seed of Christ unto eternal life and full stature in Him. The creation of the beast is an after thought. It is a reaction to his being stifled from accomplishing what he is really after in devouring the seed of God.
This is why as a prophetic people, we have to really get our eye back on the ball. It’s not about the beast. It’s not about the governments of this world and who runs them. It’s not about whether Trump or Clinton is to win the White House or whether Obama manages to find a way to hold on through martial law. And it’s not even about our repentance for having allowed the “culture” to get botched up.
It’s about preserving and protecting and bringing to full term and translation the seed of the Lord in the earth. And that is what the gospel is all about.
So I will never cease to bring our attention back to the primary eternal reality we are about in our mission as a prophetic people. Yes, we are called to ascertain what God is doing in all these extrinsic prophetic arenas and we will proceed to be discussing them further here. But let’s remember what our fundamental purpose is in prophecy as seed cultivators of God’s eternal salvation.
All the rest is passing away even as we are in process of prophesying over it. So let’s make sure that in all our prophesying, we are geared unto the issues of eternal salvation from sin, death and hell and unto the righteousness of God toward manifest glorification. Let us never lose sight of this.
Selah.
